This is an act of obedience to the word of God and a way of us following in the footsteps of our lord and saviour Jesus Christ who was also baptised.

Matthew 28:19-20 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

When we confess Jesus as our lord and saviour (prayer of salvation) and give our lives to him we are baptized by the Holy Spirit as we are now part of the body of Christ, the act of water baptism whilst a symbolic cleansing (death to sin and a new life in Christ) is also a physical and open declaration of our faith for everyone to see.

Romans 6:4 “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”

Anyone who has given their life to Christ can be baptised but we believe that when it comes to children they should be of the age to understand what they doing and make that choice themselves.

For parents who have newborn children and want them baptised, we dedicate them to God instead.
